CMC is commited to progress the development and feasibility of both projects.
El Cobre is currently a small to medium scale development target with good grades of copper and gold, however previous deep drilling on the deposit provided a focus on looking at the likelihood of a deep epithermal poly-metallic deposit.
1. Preliminary work has outlined a resource that can be developed at a level that doesn’t require major capital investment or infrastructure upgrades.
2. The next stage in the project growth is digitise the previous work, over 100 years to provide a solid base for the exploration work to confirm the previous drilling results carried out by the Cuban/Russians and Canadian groups more recently.
3. A targeted facility of 1.5Mtpa producing up to 20,000t copper concentrate is part of the initial strategy via a detailed scoping study that will commence shortly after the confirmation drilling program commences.
Cajalbana work will also be undertaken in tandem with the development work planned for El Cobre, Caribe management plans to deliver a program of works at Cajalbana that will progress a timeline for a medium scale nickel and cobalt operation.
1. A confirmation drill program coupled with a major sampling collection to update the resource figure and provide for sufficient samples to carry out metallurgical test work utilising the newer nickel extractive technology.
2. Provide the new technical numbers into the nickel/cobalt model to confirm the targeted scale of the project and the capital estimates.
